As promised I've got some pictures to share with you. I seem to take a lot more macro than anything else. I just love the little things you might otherwise over look.

A warning to anyone on dialup these pictures are full size. If you are interested here's the link to the folder Macro Shots I hope you enjoy!

Through Sunshine and Rain )

Okay I'll leave it at that ^_~

Now it's back to attempting to write.....unfortunately the scene just isn't working for me right now. I think it's a conspiracy!

O-kay, haircut time!

(dreading having to converse in Japanese but whatever, it's fucking hot and I want this ball of hair gone)

Ze options:

Shortened to maybe a couple of inches past the chin. A bit more experimental and a bit more messy, but if it works it'll look pretty nice.

OR:

The classic high school look. Low maintenance, time-tested with not spectacular, but good results.

I just don't want to take another screenshot of Tifa over to the friggin hair stylist. >_>

Wow. The Dark Knight was even better than I expected it to be. And that's saying something, since I went in with decently high expectations.

I've never been actually scared by a Batman villain before, but both of them terrified me in this one.

Also, I take back my criticism of the new Batmobile. It may be ugly, but it is also awesome.

A few spoilerish notes )

This really is the Batman movie that we've been waiting for. I do love Batman Returns, but this one just has such a different feel to it.

Though I miss the Batman theme, even if this one had very awesome music too.

Man, he's lucky he's out of said closet. There simply isn't ROOM for him in there. :p His closet is brilliant though. :p

House just fixed a problem with Retcon. It was exactly the solution I thought of before he thought of it. Though he didn't use proper retcon, but electricity to the brain =P

Work went by quickly.

Bleah brain though.

Freedom, sweet freedom!~

My days off have returned again (I can't believe it's already been a week since I left for London @_@). As always, must be productive, but I have less big goals this time round, I think.

THE LIST:

- bank
- clean kitchen floor
- paint
- put out garbage
- groceries
- laundry
- see Dark Knight (and maybe Mamma Mia too)
- finish watching Escaflowne
- Hairy Tarantula shopping!
- make bread

Looks good to me!

Oh, so I've been reading The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I've never read her vampire books, but this one had such a fascinating plot I couldn't resist. Plus it's like...Animorphs from the Yeerk perspective only with less evil. The writing isn't the greatest...but the story is just fascinating. Which is why I love commercial fiction ^_^

Holy shit!

Just on a total whim I went to Cafepress and checked on my Meninges Clothing store, which I had pretty much abandoned since coming here. Last time I checked, I had a profit of $2.50 from selling a single Parietal Girl t-shirt.

This time, I have a profit of ten times that amount. I can't figure out what I sold because the records are only monthly and apparently it was awhile ago. But holy damn!

I've been thinking of really going more professional with Meninges but stuff keeps getting in the way. School, work, hobbies, travel, and I can't go professional unless I make more designs, and I totally need a scanner and tablet for that, and I'd need a professional website, but I haven't coughed up the fees for that either.

Mulling over it now, the scanner and tablet excuse is bullshit. And it's easy to just go and buy site space. Thing is though, why haven't I?

Just about 15 minutes prior I had been reading an article on Steve Pavlina's blog on just doing what you love for the joy of doing it. Well, seriously, I ask myself, what do I really enjoy doing?

I think going all fangirl-nerdgasm over brains is stupid amounts of fun and I get a huge kick out of charging other people up over how awesome brains are. Because really, who doesn't want to know who they are?

Why aren't I doing this more?

Maybe this is a sign.

I woke up thinking it was the weekend and I'm suffering from extreme work apathy today. Or rather, I don't mind work so long as it's at an easy pace, but I have to teach Fangfang today which is going to make things take longer, and I'm having one of those antisocial days where the last thing I want is to have somebody try to engage me in conversation.

If anything, I just want to curl up in the lounge and read The Demolished Man with a bottle of cold jasmine tea.

Went bowling with Mike last night and I kind of miss the feeling of swinging around heavy weights like that. I haven't had much chance to get some decent exercise in lately and I've gained a bit of weight. Picking off Mike's fries every time he wants to go to McDonalds isn't helping either.

Thankfully, Lifehacker comes through once again! I really want to try out the 0 to 100 pushups in 6 weeks plan if only because it would make my return to Taekwondo absolutely kickass. But, sparing that, if I get really desperate for a good and easy workout, I could just swing around a sledgehammer for 14 minutes each day. In thinking about it, if you do the sledgehammer thing right that would be a bitching sort of weighted naginata practice.

So Emmy's on her way home now and oh we had a good 'weekend'.
She got a chance to see the apartment, we signed the lease. I learned that the Residence Manager loves me (which is slightly a surprise, except for the bit where she never sees me. And I guess when you're managing 5 buildings, not seeing a person is great). Also learned that Judy terrified a poor prospective apartment viewer =P

AND wonder of wonders, we were wandering around some of the nice used DVD stores and there was Torchwood Season 1. For $45. WHich is brilliant because the cheapest I have ever seen it was $60. Usually it sells for $80. So I bought it. Because it's Torchwood, and it has a tonne of extras.

Including one of the best lines of the evening, which came up in the commentary for Cyberwoman. One of the first scenes filmed for that was the dramatic showdown, where Ianto has just seen his girlfriend turned evil and eaten by a pteradactyl. His boss his holding a gun on him and rather seriously threatening to kill him. Before the scene, Gareth, the man who plays Ianto, asks the Director "Where do you think Ianto is right now?"
The responce he gets is "I imagine he's pretty upset."

That just made the night. Made the season. Just win. Bit of an understatement there.

Also the bit where they're talking about the Torchwood mobile. It has Torchwood written in YELLOW on the top. Yellow. On the roof of a black SUV. For a secret organization hunting aliens. There is an artistic director (I think) who absolutely hates the SUV =P They said they managed to get it edited out of most scenes, but not all of them.

("I imagine he's pretty upset" *giggles*)

Thanks to Alana I'm now hopelessly addicted to Phoenix Requiem and would highly recommend it to everyone! I totally intend to buy the volumes when they're published ^_^ her art is superb and she's an excellent story teller!

And then there's Earthsong I really like the drawing of the main character. She reminds me of the human form of the Last Unicorn, from the movie The Last Unicorn great story.

Lastly for the for the moment I give you Wayfarer's Moon this one makes me think more like R.A Salvatore, still very much in the beginnings if you ask me there so much still to be explained but I'm looking forward to it!

I hope if you have time to take a look at any of these that you enjoy them ^_^

my writing is coming back to me! now that I'm on the max dose of Celexa that block in my brain seems to be wearing off. Which is a huge relief, I'm working on the next installment for Quiet Celebration would be nice to get it posted in the next couple of days.

Dammit! The Japanese officials at the Mainichi Shinbun have finally clued in that their English translation website has been featuring such content as wacky schoolgirl molestation attempts and first-person experiences of reporters trying out the underground sex industry. Needless to say they're not pleased that this dirty part of Japan is being broadcast worldwide and so have launched an internal investigation and subsequent fixing of the issue. There goes my juicy tabloid gossip.

But in more entertaining linkage, here are the 6 most badass stunts ever pulled in the name of science.

Saw the latest Miyazaki movie in theaters last night: Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea

Mike describes: "It's like the Little Mermaid, except retarded."

It's still adorable though, and a definite feel-good movie. Feel-good especially for me because I understood about 40% of the movie without subtitles.

***************************************

Bought a bar of dark Lindt chocolate at the import store that contains chili extract. It's awesome, almost like chocolate and cinnamon but the spice is more pronounced and it doesn't have any sort of tobasco-taste to it. Dark chocolate but with a slow, faint but noticeable burn.

***************************************

Virus titering with Fangfang today. My subconscious ego is still very territorial and still gets irritated that she wants to know absolutely everything about my new craft and refuses to let me do anything for her. I have to keep telling myself to shut my pie-hole; to get all butthurt that she's learning this much from me is to work under the assumption that I'm such a grand and talented teacher and virus technician, when that's not the case at all.

What exactly am I afraid of? That she'll become better than me? For all intents and purposes she already IS better than me. I think part of me is afraid that if more and more people learn virus that I'll be rendered useless because I don't know anything else (or rather, I'm too incompetent to learn many more things in such short a time).

But, as an intern here, this fear has a chance of coming to fruition only for so long as I believe that virus is the only asset I have (or will ever have). The more determined I get to deepen my knowledge and broaden it (better yet, the more I actually act on deepening and broadening my knowledge), the better off I'll be. Fangfang's doing exactly what she needs to. I just need to work harder.

Man, it's like they don't WANT us to be productive. First of all, there won't be any NMR online until Wednesday. And we can't even go near it, we have to drop our samples off because the new facility is still a construction zone.

That's not the big one for today too. No, today was another unexpected fumehood shutdown. Not our lab, but the STINKIEST labs in the building. My office is on the same floor. You basically couldn't breathe in the halls by midmorning because the smell was so bad. Needless to say, I camped out upstairs in the corner of the group office. After telling people to send a search party with gas masks if I wasn't back from getting my computer in five minutes. :p The smell wasn't too bad in the lab since our fumehoods were still working. The hallway was bad until the construction workers opened the door to the roof. And the less said about the staircase that actually goes to the basement the better. :p

A lot of people didn't have my "camp out in the group office" option and wound up taking a stench day. I left early when I realized I really needed papers from my office to do anything else and I didn't want them badly enough to go down there. :p

In exciting news, I successfully cleaned my oven so maybe the smoke detector will calm down. Baking soda is AMAZING stuff, it just lifted the gunk right off.

I highly recommend Transitions Lenses to anyone who has glasses and would also like sunglasses!

I couldn't be happier with how mine are working, I hardly notice when they transition, I just realize that I'm not squinting ^_^ it's really pleasant even on a cloudy rainy day they tinted to make it easier on my eyes. Coming in from a bright day isn't a problem either. Like I said it's like not wearing sunglasses at all but it's so much easier to see.

Happy Feet!

If only everything else were going so well, meds aren't working the way they should. I'll be seeing Dr Dancel on Thursday find out what changes she'd like to make.

I'm attempting some writing not sure where it'll take me, but I feel a little more capable of it than I have in the past week or so. I really feel like posting what I have right now...but it's only three pages, still it's been a while maybe I should.
